Goals

PERSONAL GOALS FOR YOUR DOG 2011
This time of year prompts us to reflect on our goals and progress:
  • What are the key skills you want to work on - for next 1 to 2 months (Puppies) for next 2 – 6 months (adults)?
  • What do you want to achieve with your dog this year?
  • Are there any issues you need to resolve?  Describe:
    • How do you intend to go about this?
  • How many times a day do you feed your dog?
    •  Do you make use of feeding times to reinforce short training exercises?
    • Do you hand-feed your dog some/all of their meal?
  • How many times a day to you work on something with your dog?  For how long?
  • How many times a day do you simply play with your dog?  For how long?
  • How much exercise does your dog get daily?  In how many sessions?
  • What help do you need to achieve your goals?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how would you describe your household (1 = Calm, regular routine; 10 = Frenetic, constantly changing routine)
  • When you are working on a new skill, to what extent do you train that at different venues?  How many?  How do you decide when to go to a new venue?
  • On a scale of 1-10, how would you describe your training approach (1 = I stick to one method I like; 10 = constantly trying new methods).
